Cape Weligama

Perched dramatically atop a 40-meter palm-fringed headland on Sri Lanka's southern coastline, Cape Weligama is an extraordinary Relais & Châteaux resort redefining tropical coastal luxury. Spanning twelve lush acres overlooking the Indian Ocean just 30 minutes east of historic Galle Fort, the resort effortlessly mirrors the spirit of a traditional Sri Lankan hilltop village.

Freestanding Residences & The Crescent Moon Pool

Designed by world-acclaimed architect Lek Bunnag, Cape Weligama boasts 39 private retreats arranged in small clusters, each sharing a private 15-meter garden pool. Ranging from 130 to 310 square meters, the residences feature stone-clad terraces, sonos sound systems, walk-in steam rooms, and freestanding stone baths. The showpiece is the iconic 60-meter crescent-shaped cliff-edge Moon Pool, curving around the promontory with 270-degree panoramic ocean views where blue whales can occasionally be spotted breaching in the distance.

Coastal Gastronomy & Oceanfront Dining

The resort's culinary venues celebrate fresh seafood sourced directly from local catamaran fishermen each morning. Dine at the Ocean Terrace perched high above the surf, experience live teppanyaki theater at the cliff-edge Japanese restaurant Rouge, or enjoy authentic Ceylon spice curries prepared under coconut palms with views of the setting sun.

Marine Adventures & Wellness

Cape Weligama houses a dedicated PADI dive center offering private whale watching charters, guided sea kayaking, snorkeling over pristine coral reefs, and world-class surfing lessons along Weligama's mellow beach breaks. The Sanctuary Spa offers in-villa treatments infused with organic Ceylon spices, local black tea, and virgin coconut oil.
